Alma Nungarrayi Granite is a Warlpiri artist from the Northern Territory. Nungarrayi is part of Warlukurlangu Artists, a locally-owned and operated arts centre in near the southern end of the Tanami Desert in the Northern Territory. Nungarrayi’s parents helped establish the Warlukurlangu Artists, which aims to represent Indigenous art in a way that is ethical to the artists.
The Seven Sisters series is part of the Yanjirlpirri Jukurrpa (Star Dreaming) exhibition. The paintings reflect interwoven stories from Warlpiri culture and their Dreamtime (Indigenous stories of cosmology, creation and spirituality).
